  • Chuck Shamblen, Membership Chair, who explained changes to our membership program, branding updates, and communications;
  • Ann Marie Fisher, Program Chair, who reviewed topics and attendance information in addition to sharing an overview of topics ideas for 2023.

Nellis closed out the chapter review by providing detail on general goals for 2023 which included:

  • Growing membership
  • Attracting sponsors
  • Adding member value through partnerships and other means
  • Maintaining/improving chapter financial position

Dave Brewster, Director of the Tech Sector for JobsOhio, shared interesting insights and some behind the scenes stories of Intel’s planned chip manufacturing expansion in Ohio. We competed with more than 20 other states to win this largest-ever private sector investment in Ohio, ultimately winning on Christmas Eve 2021.

Ohio won by presenting an integrated package that accomplished Intel’s needs for significant acreage that was contiguous and either square or rectangular, along with 8M gallons of water daily capacity, a minimum distance away from any air or rail traffic, quality of life parameters, and more.

Ultimately, this massive investment is very likely just the first of up to four investments adding on to the capacity created initially.

Brewster’s presentation was interesting, informative, and offered a lot of hope to our audience for continued improvement in the tech industry here in Ohio.
