CES® is the most influential tech event across the globe — the place where breakthrough technologies and global innovators meet to transform lives and shape the world.
Join us on February 17th to hear from Bob Sopko, a CWRU employee and mentor, and 9 time CES exhibitor, about the amazing new tech innovations coming out of Cleveland and across the world. For almost two decades Bob has worked with CWRU students, alum, and community members, helping guide them on the path to launching their innovative technology and new businesses. Bob will discuss some of the amazing things our local Cleveland/Akron residents are creating, as well as other great highlights from the coolest tech show around.
Some of the great technology to come out of CES:
- Videocassette Recorder (VCR), 1970
- Camcorder and Compact Disc Player, 1981
- Microsoft Xbox and Plasma TV, 2001
- Connected TV, Smart Appliances, Android Honeycomb, Ford’s Electric Focus, Motorola Atrix, Microsoft Avatar Kinect, 2011
- 3D Printers, Sensor Technology, Curved UHD, Wearable Technologies, 2014
Fun fact: the first Consumer Electronic Show kicked off in 1967, with 250 exhibitors and 17,500 attendees in New York City. Since then, CES has grown by more than 10-fold and now encompasses both traditional and non-traditional tech industries from across the world. If you really are a tech enthusiast, this is a must attend event!
